Two stops up the Pike, no transfer
Three Red Line stations serve North Bethesda, and every one of them is on the same leg of the line as Rockville. Drop the car at Karnon Automotive, walk a block, and you are back at North Bethesda station in two stops.
Twinbrook, North Bethesda, Grosvenor–Strathmore
From Rockville station the Red Line runs to Twinbrook, then North Bethesda, then Grosvenor–Strathmore, all toward Glenmont and all before Bethesda. North Bethesda station (White Flint until it was renamed in 2022) has its entrance at the corner of Rockville Pike and Marinelli Road, a garage of roughly 980 spaces, and Pike & Rose one block north. Grosvenor–Strathmore, at the Pike and Tuckerman Lane, has a garage of about 1,800.
That geography is what makes the trip easy from here. Morning drop-off, two stops back to work or to the garage, pick-up in the evening. If the bus suits you better, Ride On Route 46 runs seven days a week along Rockville Pike between Montgomery College–Rockville and Medical Center, stopping at Rockville, Twinbrook, North Bethesda and Grosvenor stations.
Rockville Pike or I-270: both end at the same station

Rockville Pike becomes Hungerford Drive in downtown Rockville, just past Veirs Mill Road, and passes the station a block from the shop. Center to center it is about four miles; from the Pike District or Executive Boulevard side, call it three and a half to four, and about five from the Grosvenor end.

North Bethesda’s interchange is Exit 4 at Montrose Road. Come off at Exit 6 (MD-28, West Montgomery Avenue) for downtown Rockville, then cross to the east side of the tracks for N Stonestreet Avenue. This stretch of 270 splits into local and express lanes; the local lanes are the ones with the exits.
The last block
The shop sits on N Stonestreet Avenue along the east side of the rail line, one block from Rockville station’s Stonestreet entrance. The directions button opens turn-by-turn from wherever you are.
More than a third of the neighborhood works from home. That changes the routine.
Recent Census estimates put North Bethesda’s work-from-home share above a third of all workers, with fewer than half driving alone to a job, a very different mix from the upcounty commuter towns. For a lot of people here the car is not a daily commuter; it is the thing that has to be right for the weekend, school drop-off and the airport trip. The practical upshot: a midday drop-off is easy, and two stops on the Red Line brings you home to the Pike District for lunch while the work is done.
The other thing worth knowing is that the state’s emissions test is not here or in Rockville proper. The nearer of Montgomery County’s two VEIP stations is at 15910 Chieftain Ave in Derwood, roughly six to eight miles north up the Pike or I-270. For titling, the closest MVA counters are Walnut Hill at 16520 S. Westland Dr in Gaithersburg, straight up the Pike, or Kemp Mill in Silver Spring at about the same distance; the full-service branch with the emissions kiosk is at 15 Metropolitan Grove Rd in Gaithersburg. The Maryland State Inspection needed to title a used car, on the other hand, is done right here: one trip, two stops.
